Why should I care about my education when, all it teaches me is how to screw others over ?

  • Shouldn't college students care about those who are troubled. The only difference between me and a kid in Africa is that I was born into a wealthy family. Could I control that, no? Does an education signal intelligence or dedication? Cheating or caring? Those who have cheated the system have screwed over America's economy.

  • You should care about your education because of the things you'll learn outside of class. I can tell you, from my own experiences, that I learned more while not in class than while in class during my years in college. I found a job that I love, and it's not even in my field of study. However, if I didn't go to college, I wouldn't have gotten this job to begin with, and wouldn't be where I am today. The friends I made have proven to be better friends than the ones I had in high school (with the exception of a few high school friends who will always be my friends), and the contacts with professionals I made while at school have been invaluable.
You should care about whoever you want to care about. Personally, I care about people in this country more than in other countries, because we do so much to help other countries, and let needy people here at home flounder in the wind.
An education signals that you felt the need to better yourself in some way, shape, or form, and nothing more or less than that. You can take your education and do some good in the world, or you can take it and become the CEO of a company and then run it into the ground and beg the government for help. It's all up to you.
My favorite saying, and I couldn't tell you who said it first, is something to the extent of "my college is getting in the way of my education." Don't think that classes are the only way to learn. There's more to life than book-smarts. Get some life experience too.

  • because you get rich off of screwing people over 8)

  • In the long run, it's better to be the screwer than the screwee.
