Are their society basically all atheists?
And the same goes for Dutch people, Holland must be an atheistic country.Better educational systems. we've been there and done that...we called it the Dark Ages for a reason. Did you mean Frankistanis ?Most French are secular but not atheist, same for Dutch
Most of the French I know are CatholicThe French Revolution had a large part in that since they made an atheistic state. This was then spread over much of Europe.Because they are rather intelligent.A lot of countries aren't as hung up on religion as America. I think the percentage of "believers" is about 30-40% in most European countries. America would be better off if we were not so obsessed with religion. Will you carry my can and fight the fairies? That's the way it is. The more economically developed a country is, the higher the prevalence for atheism. The US is the exception the that rule. They are smart ;) Europeans have a lot less hang ups than Americans also.Europe is the most civilized and educated part of the world so religion is dying here.More than half European follow some religion.
Like in France, 40-50% are Catholics and around 10% Muslims.
However in Europe which is mostly catholic. Catholic didn't have religous revolution like the potestant did, so that protestant feel that they have something especial and so that they stick to religion more than Catholics.
Also, europe suffered a lot from religous wars, suffered from the control of the Pope and kings who were" chosen by God". US established on the election system "Democracy".
Religion is not engaged in politics, in the US, it is engaged. The French basic law state clearly about the seperation between the state and religion.
Europe had the student revolution for moral freedoms. US didn't have such revolution.
All of these reasons made them avoid religion.
It is not a matter, they are smarter. Europe suffer from the same problems US suffer because they are away from religion. They made a survey in France in the early begining of this year, 60% of French thought about suicide seriously.same reason with the rest of Europe, better educational systems.Same goes for most of Europe, especially, Northern Europe. Basically, among all advanced countries, the US is an exception in its religiosity. They are both dying countries. I am not saddened. #If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
