Dad passed away and left stocks and bonds. How can I find them?He should get monthly statements. As his account may now be frozen due to probate, you will have to contact the executor of the estate. If that's you, you should know about the will, safe deposit boxes, insurance, attorney, accountant. Multiple brokers mean multiple statements. Obtain last year's tax return.Contact the lawyer that handled probate or any lawyer.See if you can find correspondence with broker/bank. Any certificates, dividend vouchers?, tax returns? Accountant? Payments to his bank of dividends? If no evidence of paperwork you could try Transfer Agents.I don't know about US but in UK there are only three major Registrars (transfer agent) and they have search services. This may be tha same in US. How do you know your dad had stocks and bonds? If you know that you must have some paper record which is something to go on. If you think the value might be significant (judging by his other assets, income, lifestyle etc. then it may be worth paying an agency to investigate for you.
If you want more help contact me at http://www.shareworld.co.ukcall the broker he worked with they are probably in street name for ease of transfer and sale#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
