  • What's the best part of a cupcake? The frosting. The cakey part is OK, but it's bland and boring without frosting.

Can you figure it out from there?

  • It goes along the lines of "All talk and no action." It just means that it is very basic and not many details.

  • I've not heard this expression before either - perhaps it means that frosting covers a lot of faults and you can't see the beneath it. In reference to a person I would take it to mean that he/she is open, solid, reliable, honest.

  • I don't know...I prefer cake to frosting.

But the usual term is like, "icing on the cake."

Like, you already have something good (cake) and then you get the additional treat of icing.

So, I guess it would be that something's good but you don't get the added benefit of frosting?

I don't know. I've never heard that term in common parlance.

But what's bad about a cupcake with no frosting?

It's a muffin, people! Muffins are cupcakes with no frosting.

    And muffins are allright.

If life gives you cupcakes, don't complain about the frosting.
