Only in India would you find the majority of the uneducated to the highly educated ones ever faithful to his spouse - however quarrelsome, ugly or sick - and display a filial bondage toward their children, that is rare to find elsewhere...
Their beliefs strangely help them to retain the unity amidst diversity.. North Indians flock to the south visiting the holy places and rivers, the Southerners touring the shrines and hills of the north.. Amid all the animosity perpetually sown by divisionists - mainly politicians - the flow of the north-south pilgrims goes on.. !! This applies to followers of most practiced religions..
Great souls abound in the country from the icy Himalayas to the forests of western ghats in the south.. While quite a few do feign as holy men - in view of their value among the public - yet, the search for the great ones and their worship is never diminished.. !!
Even in poverty, the great number of the ruralites cherish the values of honesty.. the suicides for not being able to pay off the debts is a pointer..
But the rich are less philanthropic and more greedy to amass more and more wealth - most cases (few angels there are but if even 50% of the ultra rich would take up philanthropic work, the poverty would be gone in a year..)
Sweet India! where the wise and valiant were born and gave us a tradition that would keep us bound together with love and harmony.. I bow to you.
i'm Indian, born, brought up & residing in India.
If it happens in India, it happens any where else in the world also !
Only in India will you eat some of the best food you'll EVER taste, but many (most?) of the people who live there are starving.
Only in India will your train ticket say "departs at 6:00 AM" and at 7:00 the train isn't there yet.
Only in India will you go to a bazaar and find that the man working at the cheap jewelry kiosk, who has no college or even high school education, speaks 8+ different languages.
Only in India will you discover that it really is much, much faster to walk a few blocks than to take an automated transport ...
Yet, only in India, will wealthy people STILL take the automated transport! (And look at you like you're crazy if you suggest to walk) :-)
Only in India will you find some of the greatest luxury you'll ever (or never) experience in a 5+ star hotel, while there is a vast slum right outside the door.
Only in India will you find people who are so very hungry and poor, but who will line up to give donations to their temple.
Only in India will you find pani puri that is SO good, that you simultaneously want to eat pani puri every day for the rest of your life, yet never want to eat it again, because you know nothing else will ever compare.
Only in India will you see an Ivy League educated young man from New Jersey who has decided to move to Mumbai and open, of all things, an American Style Donut Shop.
Only in India will you find ultimate freedom - no fences along the national roads, people out and about at all hours of the day, the world's biggest democracy - yet discover that it's not as free as it seems - poverty, the world's biggest beaurocracy, the caste system.
India is an interesting place, it strikes me as a world of contradictions. It is beautiful, yet home to many ugly things. It is a rich country, but home to so many poor. People there are often uneducated, but in India more than anywhere else, those same uneducated people are incredibly able to adapt and innovate.
