Does it hurt more to have a tattoo retouched, than actually getting it?

  • i got a tattoo just above my left ankle about a month ago and there is a really small line there that has no ink in it, so i have arranged to go back to the tattoo parlor on friday and get it retouched! does it hurt more to get retouched or does it hurt more when u first get it? help please!!!


  • I got one of my tattoo covered up and it felt the same if i was getting a new one. that's was my experience

    It will be much quicker.
    You still need to take care of it.


  • If its been a month since you got it then it shouldn't hurt any worse. And it shouldn't take as long.

  • no, it's hurts the same amount as the first time. and since you are only getting a line touched up it will be over in a minute and won't be bad at all.


  • no not really... they always say that the outline is what hurts the most... and if u r only getting a little line filled in.... there really shouldnt be any kind of pain... good luck♥


  • not really.. if you thought that it hurt while you were getting your tattoo in the first place then you might feel pain when getting it retouched.


  • Your pain sensory doesn't know if their is ink on your skin or not. It will feel the same. The only way it wont hurt as much is if you psych your self up and tell yourself it's not that bad. If you let your fear guide your pain, then it will hurt. Mind over matter...


  • omg yes!!! when i got my tattoo--they were having trouble with the gun---it didnt look really bad in fact it wasnt bad at all but i had to go back 1 week later to have it recolored completely--omg!! it was still so sore and healing that it hurt soooooo much more than when i initially got it

  • nope! i got a new tattoo last november, but the colors were too light so i had the whole thing re-done two months ago....felt just the same, if not less painful than the first time.

  • it will be that same feeling as when you got it. nothing is going to change. sh!t it probably will hurt less, since there not doing that much this time
