Damp problem in bedroom.?

  • In our one bedroom we have a problem with damp. Our clothes are being ruined and we're getting green mould on the ceiling. We have a radiator in the room which works. The problem is only in this room so i can't understand what is different in this room and why we have this problem. Any ideas will help alot. Thanks.

  • Are you drying clothes on the radiator.Or leaving damp towels around.

  • get a air dehumidifier and put it on at regular intervals for a few days and the damp should clear up

  • I would ditto the condensation answer. If you are turning the heat way down and then turning it back on when you are there, this can cause condensation to form on cold surfaces. Have you checked to make sure that the roof isn't leaking or water is leaking from somewhere else?

  • I loved the headline.....

    good luck with your problem

  • keep a widow open keep radiator on check for cracked exterior wall

  • It could be the boiler.

  • Get a dehumidifier. It will pull the moisture out ouf the air in the room .Seems that there is too much humidity in the room and the mold and mildew loves that kind of environment.

  • It could perhaps be coming thorugh the ceiling or walls. Do an interior attic and exterior wall check for holes and fill them. Then go to your local d'i'y shop and buy mould killer and damp proof paint. Kill the mould and do two coats of the paint. Hope this helps!

  • if you have a steam radiator the vent on the end may be opened all the way. there should be a dial on top or bottom. turn it down.

  • i suspect condensation on a north facing wall, a dehumidifier may help this problem, very cheap to run,

  • You might need more permanent ventilation in the room.
I had the same problem in my small room, added a small vent to outside and it went away.

  • Have your guttering and drain pipes checked it could be that they are made up with leafs or rubbish ,and the water is running down the inside walls from your roof .
