Atheists, why are you here?
The section of R & S is meant only for those who believe in God because
1) Religion is obviously related to God.
2) Spirituality contains the element of the Holy Spirit. All religions like Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam agree to it.
Therefore, this section is not meant for you. Why don't you atheists go some place else or make your own section titled "ATHEISTS".
Everyone is welcome here. Maybe you should rethink your attitude.
and besides don't we brighten the place up a little, you secretly love us i know
is it? where does it say that?
1. yes and so we're not allowed to point out that there isn't one?
2. many atheists are spiritual like buddhists, I'm not but again aren't I allowed to point out that it's bullsh!t?
Thank you for demonstrating why atheists should be in this section. Apparently we're not allowed to have an opinion. I see. Perhaps you'd prefer if we were just locked up in camps somewhere
BTW you might want to next time make use of the search function so you don't waste 5 points
anyone can be spiritual. you don't have to be religious for that.
you forgot to mention pagans...
it's way too early to start drinking...

However, there's another (larger) group of atheists here for the sole purpose of antagonizing believers. It's from that group of atheists that I've encountered people who are bigoted, arrogant to the extreme, and just plain rude. They give lame excuses about how they're here to "educate" us because they feel sorry that we've been brainwashed. Uhh... yeah. They're here to provoke people. They can deny it all they want, but the evidence is clear in their questions and answers.
And, YA is not a discussion forum for religion. It's a place to ask and answer questions regarding Religion and Spirituality. If you're looking to debate or have a productive two-way discussion, this is NOT the appropriate place because YA is not set up to allow it properly. Yes, everyone has opinions, but sometimes you should exercise a little self-control and keep them to yourself. Like when a poster is going through a difficult time and asks specifically for Christian answers, prayer, or encouragement. Those posters aren't asking for your "opinion" that God is "make-believe" and that the Bible is a "fairytale." Those posters are looking for serious answers because they're hurting, and people should respect that.
This section is meant for the discussion of religion and "spirituality". It can be discussed by anyone..... This section however is NOT for proselytising... which is what you seem to be fond of.... so I recommend YOU bugger off.
... And Donna.... this isn't america. America is that way... *points to the gutter*
.... damned yanks... ¬_¬
1. Not all religions believe in one god. Buddhism is more than simply a philosophy.
2. Wrong. Spirituality does not always pertain to the Christian concept involving the trinity known as the "holy spirit."
This section is for anyone. Get used to it.
Also, Atheists are here for the same reason you'd go into an Atheist section-- curiosity. Humans are just like that.
I don't believe in your God, but I do believe in Lukaeleroh and it is spiritual, but by your reasoning I have no right to be here? Religion is not related just to one God, but any God that anyone in the human race believes in. Lukaeleroh has nothing to do with the Holy Spirit, neither does Buddism, Paganism, or many others.
Atheism is a belief, and they have every right to be here.
PS-- your name is a Marilyn Manson reference...:)
but we atheists just follow humanity.
You all say how God touched you in some way, and now you believe.
Well I'm wondering if it delusional or real.
I was a believer because I didn't know any better.
Then people started to say why they believe, and I never felt that.
So I questioned my faith (not really sure I ever had it).
Why do you believe, did you feel something I'm not capable of doing? Well good for you.
Or was it something you just never really thought about.
haha, nice try... actually spirituality is all about alcoholic spirits. everyone knows that! drink!
If you are so confident in your faith then why should atheists upset you so much? You would think that anyone who seeks to challenge your beliefs would be met with your own truths....if they are in fact true.
Banning these issues based on religious beliefs belittles our society. It is wrong.
Not all spirituality contains the element of the Holy Spirit... what about paganism?
I have just as much right to post in the R&S section as you do.
Maybe we just want a place where we can debate our ideas and theories with theists and other atheists alike?
This group is not meant solely for those who believe in a god or a spiritual....it is meant for those who have questions regarding religion and spirituality and should not exclude anyone just because they choose not to have a religious belief system.
All inquiring (and open) minds are welcome here.
You're new here, aren't you.
Are you really so wrapped up into your own faith that you cannot appreciate the belief that there is no God is just as credible, for the sake of this forum, as the belief that there is one? It adds a completely new perspective to the question of spirituality, and if you are not prepared to factor that perspective in then you are the one who has no business being here.
2) Spirituality contains the element of the holy spirit ..... you are quite wrong in that. Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism has nothing to do with what you call the holy spirit.
3) Now, may I ask you why you often see Christians and hardcore religious people inside Gay and Lesbian forum?
People cannot create their own sections. If they could, I'm sure atheists would indeed make their own. However, I'm also sure that the more obnoxious portion of Christians on Y!A would be overcome with the need to harrass and proselytise there.
Edit: In regards to your edit about scientists - I (not to mention the actual scientific community) am more inclined to believe and trust the research of a scientist who has no religious affiliation, since they are less likely to twist the results to fit their own religious views. The more someone knows about the hard sciences, the more likely they are to be atheist, or at least agnostic.
