» Best lens for me?

I am selling my canon 18-55mm kit lens and want to replace it with one good lens that I can just use all the time. I do a little bit of everything, but mostly shoot automobiles/sports/racing/people. I was recommended this sigma lens as a cheap option: Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC HSM http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0007U0GZM/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance at $400 it is at about my budget limit. Anyone have any other options? There is, absolutely, and in no uncertain terms NO way you'll be shooting "Automobiles/Sports/Racing/People" with the 30mm. Maybe people.ok, when I say sports and racing, they are all things I can get fairly close to when shooting. mountain bikimg, autocross...ect.L...... - 2009-07-03

» designing a website..

hey i was hoping to get some tips from some people on here who have experience with making websites. right now im doing some basic stuff with dreamweaver, but i was wondering if someone could give me some info or direction on tips for using flash, because i wanna present my photos and info through flash format, thanks for the help in advance.:wink:Why Flash? Not like you can get tips to use it properly, something that takes time to learn unless you get a template. Even then you should have some experience. Do a google search you may find some beginner tutorials.Becuase with a flash environment, its a little more challenging to "steal" the pics than using other technologies. That said, this is more of a photography site, not a flash desig...... - 2009-07-03

» Why are there satanic metal bands?

Satan was created to Worship God through music...after he fell from Heaven his gift became perverted...so now in his quest to make people Worship him and trying to be "bigger than God" he uses that to reach people and play evil spirits into them. Where do you think Subliminal messages came from. Plus did you know that there is a part in your brain that cannot reject something if it is put to music and sung...even if you don't believe it....if someone sings it...you intellect cannot reject it...that's why we teach kids lessons in music such as ABC's and times tables...research it...see for yourself....Why are there Christan metal bands? Same reason. ...... - 2009-07-03

» I joined the Air Force i will be working with Avionics. I wanted to know what kind of math will i be doing.?

It depends on your duties. If you are designing systems, or working with designs, you should have a good foundation in calculus and control systems theory. If you are just operating systems, I would assume algebra would be enough. That gives you practice in logical relationships. The avionics guys I worked with did not do any math work. There's alot of reading books and shooting wires (finding out if a wire is broken in the miles of wire in the airplane). For the most part though you'll just replace a bad box with a new box. This is of course dependent on the airplane and if you're on the flightline or in the back-shop, though nowadays you could be doing both. Good luck. Here is an avionics math test I found in .32 s...... - 2009-07-03

» Is it true that your gpa does not transfer, just your credits, when you transfer colleges?

i thought everything transferred but my mom said that only your credits transfers, your grades do not, so your gpa resets basically...is this true?I think it depends on the school you are transferring to.When I transferred, my credits came but not the GPA - it started over. Friends who have transferred had the same experience, so it's probably universal.gpa change pending on how the schools calculate gpa. I had a 3.5 out of uhcl and 3.1 transferring into uh central. the latter dropped classes from my community college while the other accepted some c grade classes. your gpa will only reset back to nothing if u are going to a start a new degree plan so different that it doesn't accept any of your prior course work. There are tw...... - 2009-07-03

» Why does my flash movie run slow in browser

Hey guys does anybody know why my flash movies play so much slower in my browser than when I preview them via test movie?I'm going to bump this, because this problem needs to get recognized and a lot of other people I know are experiencing this too. Even with flash mx.Hey, I was having the same problem with a website I made. Try lowering the frame rate that seemed to help my lag a bit.Its not lag, because I'm testing it both on local and internet connections and they are both slow.I think Flash Player 8 has a lot more overhead in its browser plugin implementation. It certainly did add a lot of runtime features (like all the filters). Any time you experience slowdowns in the playback of Flash applications, it's because the application is...... - 2009-07-03

This is an interview piece I used to do on StormTrack years ago, until lack of interest forced me to give up (couldn't get anyone to answer my emails). I had hoped to post a new interview on the following page BEFORE announcing its existence (so as to give an example of how the page should look to be neat and readable), but unfortunately, I've sent out two questionaire interviews so far and I'm having the same problem - no replies. » Hiking and taking pictures

I am just curious how often this happens to other folks because it always happens to me. I go somewhere to go hiking and tell myself I want to hike in a few miles to get some good shots of stuff most folks never see since they hike in maybe 1 mile max. However it seems like I can never get down the trail because I am always taking pictures. I just can't seem to pass up something that looks nice and never get down the trail which gets annoying. I end up with pics I like but still can't seem to ever make my goal for where I wanted to end up at for pictures. I guess I can always keep my camera packed away but I am still too tempted to stop and shoot.that happens to me all the time. Next summer i'm determined to do a long hiking trip so I...... - 2009-07-03

I try to delete it by exiting but everytime I restart the computer it re-appears.indexing is just that, it indexes your files so they can be easily searched for later (the name and the file type) If it keeps reappearing it means that it is recreated by the system because it is a necessary file just leave the file alone, it wont hurt your computer...... - 2009-07-03

We all made this decision just in the past couple days. We are hoping to have our first sell to Columbia Records within 3 months and at the end of the sale, each of us will have netted a take home pay of $10,000!!!!!!!!! » MySQL Security

Hi there. I am running a server on Redhat 8 with Apache, PHP 4.22 and MySQL as per the default install. I have secured the root account and created a less privileged account for my forums. What I'd like to now be able to do is state that for example, if a user logs into the mysql prompt over telnet and does a "SHOW DATABASES" command, that only the vbulletin database they are associated with would show up. Is this at all possible? What I hope to have is x amount of users each with their own database, that can only ever "see" their own database on the server. You can't have multiple databases for one installation of vB. But there is of course a way to cut priviledges of users so that they are only allowed to view a certain database, rea...... - 2009-07-03

what are some similarities and differences between amphibians and bonyfishesAn exerpt from this article ....."As it was for the first land plants and arthropods, several key adaptations make the vertebrates' transition to life on land successful. Amphibians evolve skeletal and muscular features that support body weight, enable walking, and keep their heads up off the ground. But they are not the first vertebrates to venture onto land; scientists think their ancestors, the rhipidistian fish, used fleshy, lobed fins to shuffle ashore. Many unmistakable physical similarities exist between rhipidistians, which resemble modern lungfish, and the first true land vertebrates, the amphibians. I came home yesterday to find a package from Porsche. Inside was a chrome 500mb USB drive. A gift from Porsche. Did anyone else receive this without knowing it was coming. Nice surprise but strange never the less.I need to check my mail box! Several years ago (16-17), my how time flies; I got a poster of a wide body Porsche from the rear with all wheels off the ground and if you look close they placed a sticker on the poster with my last name in the license plate. It was just a small gift. I have is framed in my office at work.DO YOU REALLY WANT TO PUT A USB DEVICE IN YOUR COMPUTER WHEN YOUR NOT REALLY SURE WHERE IT CAME FROM? » Predictable choppiness on wireless video playback

I've got my XBMC set up just how I want. I've spent the last couple of weeks ripping many of my TV DVDs so I can pull them up via XBMC. I just got the 54-G MS wireless adapter today so I could hook everything up in the bedroom where there's no wired ethernet. It works great until I go to play a video... then I get some choppiness, particularly when I first start the video. I often have to pause the video, wait a few seconds, then play again... but it still chops after a minute or two sometimes. Moreover, when a show fades to black, particularly after an intro (about 30 seconds in), it nearly freezes there. I assume that's because the change from full picture to black to full picture requires the max bandwidth. My signal strengt...... - 2009-07-03

Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed byTerence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan; Chilam Balam of Tizimin, Mani, Chumayel; Jaguar Prophet), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called "the abomination that causes desolation" that will be set up in the Jewish Temple...... - 2009-07-03

» Reading everyday equivalent to college degree?

My english teacher in high school said reading every day (for like 20 or 30 minutes) over the course of your lifetime is the equivalent to something like 3 or 4 college degrees. I'm not sure where she got that statistic from. Do you know the data source?sounds like made-up nonsense to me. you can learn a lot by reading your whole life. But a degree is not just reading.eh. probably trying to equate average time used for studying/reading with daily reading time over a lifetime. which still doesn't make sense. because i could blow hours reading tabloid trash (websites) which is very different from taking ten minutes out of my day to read a scientific paper. Not a chance! » PSG targeting Mark Viduka of Leeds

http://www.soccerway.com/news/full/?page=details&area=1066827236It’s good to see that French clubs have the ambition to sign top players. It does seem that this season might be a turning point with no stars leaving France, some coming in and French clubs doing well in Europe.yeah but all these top playing signings have been loan deals. Barthez and Viduka would be loans too.It would be a good signing for PSG I think, as he will score score goals. He's a strange player, can seem slow or lazy for a whole game but will pop up and score a vital goal when you need it. Let's face it, though, he's no Drogba!I do not know if this is such le good thing, I have seen him few times and did not think he was le great.Originally posted by Alphonse I d...... - 2009-07-03

» Why should I care about my education when, all it teaches me is how to screw others over ?

Shouldn't college students care about those who are troubled. The only difference between me and a kid in Africa is that I was born into a wealthy family. Could I control that, no? Does an education signal intelligence or dedication? Cheating or caring? Those who have cheated the system have screwed over America's economy. You should care about your education because of the things you'll learn outside of class. I can tell you, from my own experiences, that I learned more while not in class than while in class during my years in college. I found a job that I love, and it's not even in my field of study. However, if I didn't go to college, I wouldn't have gotten this job to begin with, and wouldn't be wher...... - 2009-07-03

» Wiring $100,000 to british account?

What would be the comission taken if i wire 100,000 usd to a british account?Don't wire the whole 100 Grand... you may end up on the IRS watch list. Wire amounts $10K or less and you fly under the radar. Normal wire cost is around $35 per wire. You will pay a fee for the currency conversion but otherwise I never paid a "commission" fee to wire money from the U.S. to another country. When I wire from my US (USD) credit union account to my GB (GBP) bank account I'm charged a flat wire fee by the credit union of $15. At the British end there is no fee, though they will convert the USD to GBP which will cause you an effective loss (maybe 1% or so). However if you expect the dollar to drop against the pound in the near future then...... - 2009-07-03

Download.com http://download.com.com/2001-20-0.html If you search in Downloads for "pop-up", you'll find many programs to compare. You can sort the programs by operating system and license (free or free-to-try), among other options, by scrolling to the bottom of the screen. What is the ideal room temperature for an office space? If the answer is to subjective, giving me the most common room temperature would be a satisfying answer.Hi pootz, It sounds like you and your office mates may be having a hard time deciding where to set the thermostat! Every workplace seems to have at least two people who fiddle with the thermostat?one turning it up and the other turning it down! ?If you walk into almost any office building, you'll find some people sitting comfortably in lightweight, short-sleeved shirts while others are shivering in their sweaters or jackets. And if the temperature is too hot or too cold, many people will be unable to concentrate. While some adapt easily to varying temperatures, others need f...... - 2009-07-03

» TS 2412 Elevation Handwheel

I absolutely love my Ridgid Table saw and with the Herc-u-lift, it meets my needs well. But I'm getting kind of "cranky" (forgive the pun) about the elevation handwheel loosening on an all too frequent basis. What can I do to prevent this? Any good hints out there?Bob, There should be a lock washer between the head of the screw and the where it seats into the crank. If there is not, look at the parts page of your manual and obtain the correct lock washer and install it. This would be first cause. Second cause would be the insertion of the wrong screw. Either by mistake, or supplied, of the wrong length. If it's too long, it will bottom out in the whole before tightening on the crank wheel. Either of these fixes should correct your frus...... - 2009-07-03
